The relationship with the artisan collaborators, the coordination of activity on-the-ground, and the coordination of system-change advocacy and promotion activities are managed by Asociația WhyWeCraft, an independent, non-governmental and not for profit legal entity, incorporated under the laws of Romania, with registered office in Romania, Mimozei Street, No. 5, Oradea, Bihor County, Tax Identification Code 44166030 (hereinafter referred to as Asociația WhyWeCraft).
Asociația WhyWeCraft Board of Directors is composed of Monica Boța-Moisin, Raphael Schreiber and Beatrice-Alexandra Cord.
The primary scope and objective Asociația WhyWeCraft is the revival and promotion of traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions, traditional textile manufacturing techniques and traditional craftsmanship, and promotion of cultural sustainability in fashion by creating synergies between contemporary fashion production and traditional craftsmanship.
To promote its primary scope and objective, Asociația WhyWeCraft commits to the following:
(a) the creation of an interactive digital platform for stimulating collaboration between traditional artists or craftspeople and textiles, fashion and product designers;
(b) promotion of local production and handcrafted production;
(c) facilitating full transparency of all development and production processes in order to increase the sensitivity for the value of handcrafted products and to address the problem of overconsumption within the textile and fashion industry;
(d) promoting the sustainability implications and potential of handcrafted production for the textile and fashion industry;
(e) developing partnerships with educational institutions and private entities in order to simultaneously promote traditional craftsmanship and cultural sustainability on an educational and corporate level;
(f) stimulating the development of career opportunities in the sector of handcrafted production through the mediation and establishment of long-term collaborations between creative industries stakeholders, including but not limited to the textile and fashion industry, and traditional artisans;
(g) coordinating advocacy activities and facilitating legal support for the protection and promotion of traditional cultural expressions, traditional knowledge and craftsmanship;
(h) organising informative campaigns, activities for social responsibility, social innovation and professional support of craftspeople.
To fulfill these commitments Asociația WhyWeCraft may develop the following activities:
(a) development of immersive Co-Design experiences between traditional artisans and designers;
(b) represent the traditional artisans who are part of the WhyWeCraft community and mediate collaborations with textile and fashion stakeholders;
(c) elaborate studies, researches, analyses, comments, public opinion polls, evaluations in various areas: economic, social, legal, political, educational, according to the scope and objectives of the Association, their publication for economic, social and cultural awareness by the society, as well as for formulating recommendations, proposals, interpretations, and strategies for resolving shortcomings and conflicts in various areas connected to local and handcrafted production;
(d) cooperate with national and international organisations and institutions;
(e) participate to public debates and advocacy campaigns, or organize them, in order to promote the scope and objectives of the Association;
(f) organize and develop thematic events, meetings, symposiums, seminars, conferences, round tables to support cultural entrepreneurship and the implementation of cultural sustainability policies;
(g) organize and develop information programs, educational experiences and practical training programs, workshops, conferences and seminars in line with the scope and objectives of the Association;
(h) edit, print and distribute online and offline publications which promote and enable Cultural Sustainability in the textile and fashion industry and other relevant industries.
The educational and consulting services integrated in the WhyWeCraft Experiences are provided by Cultural Sustainability Consulting SRL, a Romanian limited liability company, with registered office in Romania, Piaţa BUCUREŞTI, Nr. 2, CAMERA 1, Bloc D10, Ap. 86, 410114, Oradea, Bihor County, Romania, Trade Registry EUID ROONRC.J5/907/2021, Tax Identification Code 44041886.
